Little Blue Lace-Up Shift Dress

How pretty is this little blue lace-up shift dress?! I wore this royal blue lace-up number out to dinner Friday night. Ita and I went to the sneak peek media dinner for the new Fleming’s Steakhouse opening up in Plano. Ita rarely goes to any sort of blogging events with me but it was pretty easy to convince him once I mentioned the word “steak”. It ended up being a really nice evening with great people. I mean when you combine a wine tasting and steak dinner, can things really go wrong?

I picked up this blue lace-up shift dress while shopping a couple of days ago. I was told that it had just hit the floor and would probably sell out fast. This is the kind of dress that can be appropriate for a steak dinner yet can easily be worn to lunch with flats. There are three main reasons why I love this dress and think it is the perfect go-to piece all summer long:

DETAIL

I love the feminine overlay on this dress because it combines crochet and lace. The pattern runs vertically giving the illusion that your body is longer and taller. A definite plus for us short girls!

LACE-UP

It seems like everything in the last year has been lace-up whether it’s shoes, dresses, or tops. I personally have no problem with it and love the look. I think the lace-up detail adds interest to any design and allows you to play with the style in your own way. You can tie it in a bow, leave it undone, and adjust how much or how little you want to show.

COLOR

Royal blue is such a beautiful color on every skin tone. I love how bright and saturated this shade is, especially for summer. Instead of going for my usual dainty jewelry, I added this turquoise statement necklace for an extra pop of color. I think summer is a great time to play with color in your wardrobe and step out of your comfort zone. Some red or yellow statement earrings could be really cute as well!

As far as undergarments go, the spaghetti straps and lace-up front can be difficult. I think a nude bra would be fine but I tried these “boob-eez” that I was gifted and thought they worked really well! They seem like really good quality and they never felt like they were going to fall off. Might be worth trying out for all of those summer tops!

You can get this little blue lace-up shift dress HERE (it ships for free and also comes in white!). This dress is a great option if you’re not going to be in your swimsuit for the 4th! For more 4th of July outfit inspiration check out these sophisticated looks and this patriotic look!
